USB DVB-T tuner Remote Control does not work

Hello everyone,

I just bought a brand new Pavilion dv7 6140ew with USB tuner included. The tuner works fine (in theory, at least - I have no digital TV at my place - it cannot find any TV channel - but it is not an issue here), however I cannot use my remote controller. I searched the forum for answers but there where only topics related to built in tuners (I tried all the tips, though, except for disconnecting the wires - as I have no built in IR receiver).

The battery in the RC is okay (using cell phone I can see the light).

Should I install any additional driver? I installed the drivers from the CD I got with the tuner.

My OS is Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Questions. If you look at the tuner using device manager, is it listed? If it is and you click on it does it say it's working properly?

It is recognised by Windows, after pluging-in the drivers are installed. Also Windows Media Center 'sees' it.

In Device Manager - where should it be listed (in which group) and what should be the name of the device?

I don't have a USB tuner but when I plug in my wireless mouse it is listed under "Human Interface Devices". If I open that list it comes up as "USB Input Device". Clicking on that gives me a window about the device and it says it's working properly. There is also a driver tab with various driver options.

Perhaps the tuner is faulty.

Jak sprawiłeś że tuner Ci zadziałał. Po podłączeniu go do komputera ściągnął sam sterownik, później przeszedłem konfigurację w Windows Media Center ale nie znajduje mi żadnego kanału, ani cyfrowego ani analogowego. Czy jest szansa by odbierać TV ? Zainstalowałem nawet sterownik z CD, żadnych zmian. Ostateczna wina jakiej mogę się spodziewać to słaby zasięg, ale w miejscu w którym jestem telewizja którą odbieram w "normalnym" telewizorze ściągam anteną z "czułkami". Czy miałeś jakiś problem z instalacją ?

Witam,

Piotr - Tuner jest DVB-T (kanały cyfrowe). Jeśli na telewizorze odbierasz kanały analogowe, to antenka zadziała, jednak w naszych warunkach (PL) jest za słaba. Mój znajomy do odbioru DVB-T, w Warszawie, na telewizorze używa anteny ze wzmacniaczem.

Tomasz - Samo urządzenie IR powinno być gdzieś w HID, a tuner w dźwięki itd.

Również mam z nim problemy. U mnie nawet system nie może wykryć go poprawnie Mogę wymusić użycie sterowników i niby jest ok, ale pilot nawet wtedy nie działa.

Hi,

Peter - tuner is DVB-T (digital channels). If the TV receive analog channels, the antenna will work, but in our conditions (PL) is too weak. My friend to receive DVB-T, in Warsaw, on a TV using an antenna with an amplifier.

Thomas - IR device itself should be somewhere in the HID, and the tuner in the audio, etc.

I also have problems with it. For me even the system can not detect it properly :( I can force the use of drivers and the like is ok, but even then remote control does not work.

Szczerze mówiąc to TV też mi nie działa - nie znajduje żadnych kanałów TV, ale wydaje mi się, że to kwestia braku sygnału cyfrowego w powietrzu. Nie wgłębiałem się póki co w temat.

Tuner w dźwiękach jest, nie mogę za to zlokalizować HID z IR.

Słyszałem, że można wykorzystać soft HP do kontaktu z pomocą techniczną - jeszcze nie próbowałem tego.

@Tomek - Postaram się dzisiaj zrobić screena i oznaczę gdzie to się pojawia. Ja zgłosiłem wczoraj problem ze strony http://www8.hp.com/pl/pl/support-drivers.html Czekam na odpowiedź. Odpisałeś Piotrowi, że TV również Ci nie działa, a ja napisze jeszcze raz - nawet jeśli masz DVB-T w powietrzu to antena ze wzmacniaczem musi być. P.S. "HP employee" - jestem na Szturmowej, a Ty?
