It may be with your Security Software is blocking access to the download of the channels and TV guide lineup. Here is a letter i sent to my internet provider and Hp explaining the solution. I spent a whole week trying to figure out why this did not work. Hope this helps .
(Part of the notice I sent to those who try to resolve the problem)
When my HP laptop came back from the manufacturer because of a cable that needed replacing in which they reformatted the hard drive I had to reinstall all the programs software.
Previously I had been using another Security software because the CA Security suite was not available for Wins 7 with 64bit. When I noticed that now it was provided for my version of windows I downloaded it.
When I attempted to setup my Windows Media Center software I got errors with the download of the channels and the guide lineup would not work. I called Time Warner for a solution thinking it might be the CA security software since that was the only thing different from my original setup. I disabled the firewall. Still the problem persisted.
When I removed the CA software and installed the security software from another company the problem was resolved.
Please be a aware that CA software is not compatible with Wins 7 64 bit with Media Center that uses a TV tuner to download channels and the electronic guide lineup. (Also would not work with HPMedia Smart) and that RoadRunner and HP spent hours with me on the phone trying to resolve the issue and no one from either company knew there was an issue with CA.
Also another problem that I have had on previous Media Center computers using XP and Wins7 with a TV tuner is with the setup when selecting the area code that I am in, 75025 your Time Warner service is not listed, I always have to use a zip code from Bedford for my Plano, TX lineup. This was discovered after trying several cities in the area that had a similar lineup. Why isn’t the Plano Time Warner listed as an option when using zip code 75025 in selecting the TV channels?
