Hi guys,
I have Windows 7 installed and I need my DVD driver back on my HP Pavillon dv2000. The driver needed is Slimtype DVD A DS8A1H ATA Device. Does anyone know a link to download it instantly and for free? With vista I could go to the registry and delete upper and lower files but now with 7 it doesnt show that anymore in the registry....
Thank for your help.

Hi,
You could try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
Reboot the PC to see if this has worked. If the drive is still not functioning, try the process below.
From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager. Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives. If your optical drive appears here, right click and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked. When uninstalled, reboot the PC and let Windows reinstall the drive. Wait a minute and then see if the drive is showing up correctly and that it functions.
If the drive is still not working, try the following. From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager. Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Right click on the first channel and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked. When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel. Also if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall this. Again, do not delete drivers if asked. Now again, click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives, right click the drive and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked.
Restart your PC and let Windows re-install these devices. Give it a minute or two, then see if the drive is working.
Let me know how you get on.
Best wishes,
DP-K
