We just bought an Hp envy x360. Upon start up there are ghost touches on the screen. It will open and close multiple windows after a few minutes it will stop then function normally. We purchased it from Best Buy within the last month.

Hi! @jgracie, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that Touch Screen is Activating Without User Intervention on your laptop.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?

Please update the touchscreen firmware and BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.

Download and install HP support assistant on your PC and check for updates. It will find and install the latest drivers for your PC.

Refer this article to know how to use HP support assistant.

I have checked the records and found there are few models of the laptop which are affected. Please find the laptop models mentioned below.

HP ENVY 15-aq000 x360 Convertible PC
HP ENVY 15-aq100 x360 m6 Convertible PC
HP ENVY 15-ar000 x360 Convertible PC
HP ENVY m6-aq000 x360 Convertible PC
HP ENVY m6-ar000 x360 Convertible PC
HP ENVY m6-ar000 x360 Convertible PC

If your unit is one of the affected units we have to replace the LCD to fix the issue.

Please contact HP support for service options.

Link to contact HP.

I'll keep an eye out for your response.

I hope you have a great day ahead! 🙂

Hi,

Thank you for your assistance. I have not made any software or hardware changes to my PC. I ran the HP support assistant and it says I am all caught up on updates.

I do not have one of the models you mentioned. Mine is HP ENVY x360 Convertible 13-y0XX.

The ghost touches appear in a verticle line left of the center of the screen. When this happens my laptop goes bezerk. Windows open, close, mazimize, minimize, the screen scrolls, and what I am looking in zooms in and out.  I have to disable the touch screen when I watch videos.

@jgracie

It looks like you were interacting with @A4Apollo, but he's out for the day

And I'll be glad to help you out.

Don't worry, the ghostbuster is here 😉

Just to clarify, did you check if the issue persists in BIOS? if not I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS screen (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please reinstall the display drivers, install the latest updates for the display adapters and BIOS, if the issue persists,

you could reinstall the windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue.

If it doesn't work on BIOS either, it's a hardware failure and you may need to contact HP to set up a hardware repair service.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.
