Probook 450 G2
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I've connected my Probook 450 G2 to an HP 2311x monitor using HDMI to HDMI ports.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so I'd like to operate with the notebook closed on the keyboard tray below the desktop where the monitor is.

I know this is a simple question, but when I close the laptop the monitor also goes dark.  I think there's a Fn Key, or another set-up option, that allows me to either not have the laptop go to sleep when closed, or allows the monitor to stay live when the laptop is shut.

I also use the laptop away from the monitor often so I need to be able to switch to the laptop screen and to have the laptop sleep when closed, (to preserve battery).

Thank you,

HKhk

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Here's a thread from HP that describes what the power options do in Windows 8: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03397760

You want to change the "Close the Lid" setting to say "Nothing".  Then, when you close the lid, no changes are made.

Good Luck
