Product Name: Envy Notebook 17-s143cl
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased this notebook on the strength of the brand and the fact that it boasts a NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX (4 GB DDR3 dedicated) graphics card.

 

After setting it up, the graphics seemed a bit sluggish so I ran some benchmarking and discovered that it is using intel MB-based graphics by default. How can I get my laptop to recognize and use that GeForce card instead of the Intel?

For starters, I would need to inform you that by default the Intel graphics card is used for normal computing. It is only when High performance is required then the NVidia discrete graphics kick in for games, high-end graphics computing like using photoshop or HD videos. This is to save power and optimize the hardware resources of the computer for different tasks based on its intensity.

 

You could follow the steps from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03519217

  to change the option to the NVidia Graphics card.
