I am using an Hp 2000 Notebook PC, and the wireless adapter that came installed on the computer is a Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter.  I have run the driver update tool, and it says that I have the most up to date driver installed.  I have also run the "Diagnose Problem" tool, and it says that there are no problems.  However, the computer constantly looses internet connection.  I assume it has something to do with the wireless adapter, because all of the other wireless devices in the house have no issues. The operating System is Windows 7.  I am somewhat tech savvy and can normally figure out issues by just playing with it for a while, but this one has me dumb founded, and its extremely annoying when you're trying to do something and you just loose connection and have to start all over again. Please help!!!

Hi:

I have found that relying on a driver update tool does not always provide accurate info.

Below is the link to the latest driver if you don't have v.3.2.12.0 (13 Apr 2012) installed.

I had a similar problem. Two laptops, HP4520s and HP4530s. The HP4530s has the Ralink wifi and performed poorly. I applied this update, and now it outperforms the HP4520s.

Thanks for the help.

I'm having the same problems and I'm not understanding how you can install the update if you can't connect to the Internet. (It may just be my complete lack of technological knowledge, so please don't laugh at me if the answer is really obvious or something.) Help, please?

As previously posted, my initial testing showed that the new drivers worked better. However was working out on a site on the weekend, and I had the same old trouble. While connected and excellent signal, without moving, the strength drops right down to good after a while, and so throughput slows beyond what is acceptable. This is an HP 4530s

I still have my previous laptop HP4520s, which has Atheros Wifi adaptor, and it works fine, even when sitting right beside the 4530 Ralink.

If you google Probook Wifi problems, you will find plenty of HP4530 owners complaining.

I will have to quit this 4530 and try to find a 4520. Funny how these big companies can put rubbish inside and ruin their brand.
