Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have a really minor problem that doesn't bother me in operating the laptop, but I am curious to find why it is not working, because I know that before the reinstallation of windows it was working normally.

Well, to the point now. After a hard disk failure and replacement, Windows 8.1 are installed again and every driver has been installed and working ok. The only thing that is not working is the led light on the wireless button (F12). The button is working properly, enabling and disabling the wi-fi, but not the led. It never lights up, neither white nor red, it is always off.

The model of the wireless card is Realtek RTL8723BE.

I have installed the proper drivers from HP site.

The wireless card driver version is 2013.8.915.2014

The wireless button driver version is 1.1.7.1

I have tried more recent drivers for the card (windows updates finds one optional update for that) and the wireless button (if i try update driver in device manager it installs a new one) but nothing changed for good so I decided to revert back to what the official site suggests and post here.

Hi @v1184,

Thank you for your inquiry.

I grasp that you had a hard drive failure and it had to be replaced which you have done. You have reinstalled Windows 8.1 and all the drivers are current.  The only issue you are experiencing is that the LED light for the wireless button does not light up, but it does work.

You have tried updating the wireless button driver but there was no change, so you reverted back to the recommended driver from HP.  As the wireless button does work it is not the driver, however, it could be that the LED light has burnt out. The other possibility would be that when you replaced the hard drive, the connection was dislodged or disconnected and needs to be reconnected.

Thank you for your answer.

I 'll try to check if something can be reconnected but i guess that my last conclusion will be that the light burnt out. :generic:

Well, after many different actions trying to fix it nothing happened, so I will accept that it is a faulty keyboard / burnt-out led light and live with it. Thank you. :generic:
