Hello,
I seem to have an identical problem, however, after attempting to follow your instructions, the "roll back device" button seems to be unclickable - I cannot click it.
Is there another suggestion? My laptop is the same as the one described above. The Audio CODEC says its up to date. I've been having this problem for over a year, and nothing seems to work, unless I click "test sound".
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You can try blowing in or with a little stick.

I am having this same issue, but its been going on nearly two years since I bought this computer. It seems to be intermitent. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. If I put a set of headphones into the jack, the built in speakers start to work. with no headphones- no sound. Sound typically works with HDMI out but sometimes I need to click on playback devices and select the HDMI manually.

Please help, just want the laptop to work properly
