I own an HP Laptop as well with a RA Link RT 3290 Wifi Card, and I have the same problem, dropped connections, problems reconnecting, etc. The frustrating part is that I own an iPad Mini 2 and a Samsung Galaxy E7, and will they have Wifi, my laptop doesn't, so you know the problem is with the laptop.

Sad to see how HP insists on putting such a low quality Wifi Card on their products.

Hi from Belarus. there I have the same problem with the router es-Dink. So the solution I have not found. I do not want to be friends with this adapter TP-Link. As for the signal or registry change
- Vetkareestra:
 Section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ ControlSet001 \ Control \ Slassi \ {4d36e972-e325 on-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} \ XXXX]
XXXX depends on the version of the OS
- Value: WirelessMode
Default is the "3". If you change the value to "7" - adapter should work with the protocol "g n".
Or replace the adapter to another.
But disappointing HP company, knowing that the problem continues to install these adapters in laptops.

"Run" The fastest and easiest way to open the registry is to use the menu. Press the key combination Windows + R, after the enter the command "the regedit" window "Run" will appear in front of you and press the button «OK».

I had this problem and fixed it by disabling "Power Saving" in the driver software configuration.
