Webcam Not Working with Vista

Hi, I'm having problems with my Webcam. It worked fine until a few days ago, now it just doesn't work by itself nor with any application (videochat). I've tried doing almost everything and nothing seems to be working. I restored my system, I downloaded, again, SP1, and the last thing that I have to do is update the drivers. The only problem with this last thing is that I can't find the driver listed on the steps I have to take. Does any one know how to do this? Please, can somebody help me!!!!

We can try to help you if you can: 

 

press CTRL+ALT+S  then post the model name and model number that is diplayed, here in your thread

Thanks!!! It's a business computer Compaq 6735s and the number is KS115UT.

I already had downloaded that driver but still did it again and still didn't work. Is there any other way? Do you think the camera is broken? The computer is mostly new, got it in january.

Are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista?

 

Do you have service pack 1 installed?

It's a 32 bit with vista home basic and yes I have SP1.

Since I have a HP Compaq notebook I don't have QuickPlay or YouCam so I've tested the camera with its application and then it plays on windows media player. It didn't work, I've tried with Windows Live Messenger and didn't work either. Am I out of options?

No. There are more options.

 

There is more to HP Recovery Manager than destructive Restore.

 

Take a read of this link, paying specific attention to the heading titled Reinstall specific drivers or applications.

 

The webcam drivers are actually located in your Recovery partition and are useful for restoring corrupted drivers that no longer work.
