Hi,

The SMART warning would indicate that your Hard Drive is failing and will need to be replaced - this is also consistent with the issues you describe.

If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced.

If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

Regards,

DP-K

my HP laptop fan has stopped working and it is referring me to a web www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup, it tried to repair to a previous date but nothing changed.

Is it a hardware problem?

Please Help.

I get this same screen and when I hit "ESC" to run the start up menu and get into the HP diagnostics, I run the memory test, I get:

Memory Test: Passed

SMART check: passed

Short DST: Failed

Failure ID
6agbgq-51j5tb-xdoo21-60r903

Product ID
WH770AV

Hard Disk 1

Please help. I am not seeing this problem on the forum. It was working fine a couple of hours ago... not sure what to do next.
