Had to swap out the battery on my a6720y and now I'm having "fun". At startup the comp won't detect my HD or DVD drive. I get the HP intro window and press F10. I get the message of "Entering Setup..." and then it either locks up or it skips the bios and heads straight to the startup routine where I get to see "Detecting Storage Devices" and it never gets past it.
Here's the weird hitch... If I disconnect the HD and DVD data cables, it'll let me right into the bios. Shutdown, reconnect one or both of the devices, back to the above issue.
Anyone have an idea of how I can get to the bios with the devices attached?

Exactly how did you swap out the battery?
Did you replace a CR2032 battery with a new one?
I suggest you go to the Violet motherboard specifications page and follow the procedure for clearing CMOS settings.
Remove the RTC battery and leave it out while you are clearing CMOS. (fifteen minutes is better than five minutes)
Best regards,
erico
