BIOS customer ID

My old compaq deskpro EN stopped saving the time etc.(I thought I had fixed it with the cmos button on the motherboard, but that only worked until the pc was unplugged) I went into the bios an noticed 2 strings had no data in them, the customer ID and the BIOS ID. Where can I find out that info? and does that sound like the problem of not saving the time/date.?
