Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam

I have a hp pavilion slimline s3700y with windows vista home premium, amd athalon x2 64, and a nividia integrated 6100 graphics card.

Whenever I play any of the "batlefield" games after a while they shut of and it says it has stopped working. My old computer and my friends compter (Which both have vista home premium) do this also.

Re: Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam

A quick search on the Internet reveals that otheres are experiencing the same problem. Min System reqs on EA's website list XP - no Vista. Looks like it is related to a memory leak.

EA has a general document for compatiblity that directs you to set the main game exectuables to compatibility mode for XP (right click the EXE file and set on compatiblity tab). You should try this if you haven't done so already and report back - to let other in the community know if it works.

I show the latest patch for 1942 at 1.6 - same latest that's been available for years.

Re: Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam

G-mister1997, definitely install all of the patches for the games.  This is the first thing that I do when I buy a new game.  Developers are shipping the games as quickly as possible and they haven't had time for quality control.  So, they give us a patch to solve the problem.

Since it is shutting down after playing the games for awhile, I would suggest that it is due to HEAT buildup.  Slimline models are not made for gaming.  The small case doesn't allow for good airflow.  When the gaming action becomes intense, all of the components begin working harder.  This creates allot of heat.  You could open the case and move the cables so they are not blocking airflow to the components.  There may only be one or two small fans (80mm) in the case.

I have eight fans in my gaming machine, ranging from 92mm to 120mm, and the heat still gets very difficult to manage.

G-mister1997, if you are talking about this "Intelligence is God given; Wisdom is the sum of our mistakes", it is my motto.  I have it on all of my posts at every forum that I frequent.  It simply is meant to show that I have "Wisdom", because I have made enough mistakes to qualify.  Believe me if mistakes create wisdom, I have it.
