Blue line on screen

I have an PHPavilion Elite with Vista Home Premium 64 bit and an HP monitor 23-inch.  Yesterday there was a thin blue vertical line on the right side.  It is there today also.  What could be causing this?

Martha, what is the model of your monitor?  With this information, we can check the 'Product pages' for it.

On the lower right hand side, it says

HPw2338h.   Device manager says the same thing.

Is this the number you need?

When a web page is open-like now, the line is visible at the very top and very bottom.  In an open program, (Elements is open now), it is visible the entire length.

Martha, it certainly is the correct number.

Check it out to see if anything there will give you a clue to solve your problem.  These are the type of problems that are difficult to solve without sitting in front of the monitor itself.

Thanks for the links.  I was not sure if it was a Vista thing or a monitor thing.

I'll try the suggestions given.

The computer checks for drivers several times a month and says everything is up-to-date (I think this is through the HP Advisor but I'm not sure.

The computer and Monitor were purchased July 23.

We don't have a working computer to connect to.

Hey martha, i'm experiencing the same problem but my blue vertical line is on the left. Did you get rid of it? If so, how? Your help would be really appreciated.

No.  I now have 3 additional lines-green yellow  and red.  This is the first monitor I have ever had a problem with.

 

What are these message tags I must remove.  Are commas not allowed or something?

OK folks this can not be fixed by the home user. The issue is the connections to the LCD inside the monitor itself is are either loose or gone bad. The only option is to replace the monitor if it is a desktop. If it is a laptop you can call HP and they may walk you through how to re-seat the connection to the MB. If that doesnt work they will offer to Replace the screen. Probably at a cost unless you are still under warranty.
