Computer wires on the inside are unplugged?

[ Edited ]

My computer used to have 2.7GB of ram, and one day my ram failed and stopped working, so i decided to take out my ram and lightly dust out the inside then put it back in. Now my computer will turn on but it makes a weird beeping noise every 3-5 seconds or so and it doesnt even make it to the "COMPAQ" screen where it shows different boot options.

SR1710NX is the model number

I noticed that there are a jumble of wires that seem to be unplugged.

They are labeled P3, P5, P6, and P8

Where do these plugs go?

Hello jbcomputer00, Can you advise if these wires are in the lower right corner of the motherboard and run into the from of the case?

Here  is the link foir the specifications for your system and it does not list the P3, P5, and P8 pins you suggest.

The P3 and P8 pins are coming from the dvd drive and the P5 and P6 pins have wires which lead into a box that says "ATA Serial 1.5Gb/s" and the power supply.

None connect to the motherboard

Hello jbcomputer00, It appears these may be the power cables from the power supply to the CD\DVD drive and the Sata hard drive (s). This would just be a guess however.

You should have two cables connected to the CD\DVD drive and the hard drive. One of these cables is the data cable and the other would be the power cable. The data cable would be a smaller cable connecting to the hard drive and to one of the Sata ports on the motherboard while the power cable would come from the power supply and connect to the Sata hard drive.

This would be the same for the CD\DVD drive. This only applies if these are Sata drives and not the older IDE drives.

The Sata connectors have a L shape design on one end so they cannot be inserted in the wrong polarity.

You may not need all the power cables coming from the power supply as some may be for any added drives that you may not have.

If the power cable is disconnected from the hard drive, the system would not boot. You might want to check the memory modules also, to make sure you have them inserted in the slots completely.
