Dual Monitor on DC5850 Small Formfactor

Am trying to get dual monitors displayed on HP Card - NVidia GeForce 8400 GS 256MB SH PCIe x16 Card installed in DC 5850 Small form factor HP PC with WIndows XP Pro.- http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06c/A10-51210-64268-348724-64268-3442732-3442733-3673478.h...

Have DVI Splitter Cable, 2 Way - http://www.lindy.co.uk/dvi-splitter-cable-2-way/41215.html - Allows two DVI monitors to be connected to a single DVI output

 

If I plug in one montitor and boot it is OK.
If I then add second montitor without re-booting it displays OK as clone of my desktop.
If I plug in two monitors and boot, screens cannot detect input, remain blank,  and go to sleep. From the disk activity it appears the PC keeps rebooting.
Can you offer any advice on how to connet splitter to a DVI socket and two LCD montitors with digital inputs. HPL2045W & Samsung Syncmaster T200

 

Eventually want to extend my desktop to two monitors as it possible iwth motherboard graphics connections.

 

Any ideas if this is possible?
