Hello,

I would like to know the usage of the FDO connector? This connector is present onto the motherboard of my H8-1020.

Thanks

Yaudette, welcome to the forum.

Here is an explanation of the FDO jumpers on your motherboard that I received from Big_Dave another contributor on the forum:

"The Flash Descriptor Override (FDO) jumper allows for the updating on the Intel Management Engine. I see it as a precautionary step to prevent unintentional or unauthorized updating of the Intel ME firmware. Typically the Windows OS Intel ME update will also be needed."

I don't believe that every day users will have a need for it.  I have been computing for 30+ years without even knowing what it did.

Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

Thanks for answering quickly.

This question was to find a solution to a problem posted under "Desktop Lockups, Freezes, & Hangs" about BIOS recovery.

Thanks again
