Fire hazard

Have a 2 year old Compaq SR5710Y that has an area melted and charred on the motherboard where the headphone and microphone jacks are connected.  Has anyone heard or seen this problem?  This appears to be a defect in the motherboard.  Of course the warranty is up but this is serious.  Judging from the patterns inside the casing this could have resulted in a very damaging fire.  Computer belongs to a single mother of two and I know she cannot afford another computer at this time.  Any info on this would be appreciated.

Re: Fire hazard

If you are claiming personal or property damage from one of HP's products it is advised to contact them asap. If you believe the current product is a fire or personal hazard please discontinue use immediately.
