Hello,

I was trying to install Fedora 19 on a new HP DZ420 desktop. I put in the DVD-R that I burned and it told me 'secure boot not enabled' and wouldn't boot from the DVD-R. I went into the BIOS (through f10) and changed the secure boot option (under system security) to enabled. When I reboot the computer it didn't start up. The power button blinks red and I hear 6 beeps with a two second pause followed by 6 beeps again. Is there a way to reset the BIOS settings without having to go into the BIOS itself?

Thanks

Hey there. The error code indicates that there is a pre video graphics error, and apparently this is being caused by the changed settings in the bios. Seeing as you are unable to access the bios, and assuming other attempts at clearing the CMOS were not effective, you can effectively reset the bios settings by romoving the small battery on the motherboard that powers the RTC and CMOS ram. After replacing the battery and pluging in the power, the machine should reboot and the default settings should be selected.

Hope this helps
