HP PAVILION p2 SERIES DESKTOP p2-1033w WINDOWS 7 64-bit general questions

HOW DO I GET THE MONITOR TO TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY INSTEAD OF JUST GOING TO SLEEP. ALSO, I SURE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO GET THE SCREEN NOT TO POP UP, THAT STATES DVI AND RESOLUTION AND VGI, WHEN I START UP MY COMPUTER. THKS IN ADVANCE.

ALSO IF ANYONE KNOWS, I HAVE BEEN TRYG TO GET MY PRINT FROM LEXMARK HOOKED UP TO MY COMPUTER, BUT IT STATES NEED UPDATED DRIVERS. I HAVE FOUND THEM BUT CANT GET IT TO DOWNLOAD.

Hi,

What monitor are you using?

I leave my monitor plugged into a hot outlet and when the PC powers off completely the monitor just goes into standby. If you are using a UPS and the monitor is plugged into a switched outlet then the monitor will power off. Normally from a power off the state, you will see the monitor status screen (scanning for an active video port).

Try a monitor reset. Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up.  Be sure that the outlet, powerstrip etc. keeps a hot outlet for the monitor.

Bottom line: You are stuck between to choices.  Totally off or standby.  Standby does have a very low power draw so it's not totally "green" but it does avoid the monitor status screen.
