HP Pavilion A6000 won't turn on.

Hey all,

I've done a little reading around and I know this has been posted before, but I think my situation may be a little different from everyone elses? I'm not sure.

My kid brother was on the computer about 2 weeks ago, and it shut off for no reason. He was unable to turn the computer back on, and he lost all of the beeps, the sweeps, and the creeps. (I.E. there was nothing.)

I pulled the computer apart, cleaned it out thinking it was possibly a heat issue, and went to turn it back on. 100% dead. The only light I get on the computer is on the back of the power supply, but as soon as I hit the on button on the computer the light on the power supply dies. If I hold the power switch down for about 5 seconds, then the light comes back on. I find this kind of strange.

Anybody have any ideas? It would be nice to get this computer up and running again. Thanks all.

It sounds like you might have a failed power supply (PSU).  Do you know if the unit is still in warranty?
