HP Pavilion a6000 will not power up

Computer will not power up when the front switch is pressed. I changed the power supply with no change. When the computer was last used characters started to appear on the screen. Shut down the computer properly. Would not start up again. Change the power supply, still nothing. What to do?

Have you tried clearing the CMOS and taking out battery and putting back in.

Also check front panel connectors on the pc that connect to the motherboard such as the power button, hdd light,etc inside the pc.

Then make sure the 24pin or 20pin motherboard cable is plugged in as well as the 5V cpu cable.

Try this procedure:

Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any.  You might want to buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the CPU heat sink.  Plug your PC back in and give it a go.

Try this procedure and see if you can isolate the issue. Trouble Shooting Power Supply Issues. Don’t skip any steps.
