wasn't sure where to put this question..
But here goes.. I recently purchased this computer and i wiped windows 8 out because I cannot stand it.. and i'm having trouble finding chipset drivers for windows 7.. I have 3 devices that I cannot find drivers for.
They are:
Ethernet Controller
Universal serial Bus (USB) Controller x2
I've looked everywhere and I would really appreciate any and all support I can get with this matter

Hi:
You did a very good job finding those drivers on your own.
Here are the links to the drivers you probably need.

The links were very helpful. I still have the following I need drivers for though...
Network Controller
SM Bus Controller
Not even sure what these refer to. I installed the network adapter and the USB 3.0 controller per your links (no problems there) but I have these left in the device manager

You're very welcome, John.
The two remaining devices are a motherboard controller and the wireless network card.
See if the AMD chipset driver directly from AMD installs the SMBus controller...first download listed.

The picture of the wireless card on the PC's specs page shows a standard notebook wireless card, the RT5390.

So, if that is indeed the card in the PC, give this driver a try...

Perfect Links...thanks very much that did the trick. Wonder why I could not find these in the usual manner. All that was listed was Windows 8 drivers...

You're very welcome, John.
HP only provides support for W8 for any PC's purchased from October 2012 on.
They only provide support for business PC's for the current and previous operating systems back to XP.
So, consumers are on their own to find drivers for any other OS than the one that came with the PC.

I recently did the exact same thing, downgraded (upgraded, really) to Windows 7 on my new p7-1414. I'm hoping you wouldn't mind sharing links to the drivers you found that worked. I'm having a heck of a time finding them.
Additionally, that link for the wireless card driver that Paul Tikkanen posted seemes to have a broken download link on the page he linked to and I can't find another instance of that driver *.exe anywhere else on the entire internet.... Did it work for you or did you get another driver to work?
TIA to anyone that can offer assistance.

Here is the right link to that Ralink Wireless card adaptor if anyone else has issues. I had to have a look at the source code for the event handler for that button and reverse engineer the right url from that.... Ah, bad code. Always a party.

Just wanted to let everyone else know that this thread has everything you need to install every driver for Windows 7 when downgrading from Windows 8 on a p7-1414. I've summarized everything into a single post below for sake of ease:
Wireless Network Adapter Driver
Additional USB Driver (may show as two "Unknown Device"s in Device Manager).
Thanks a million for Paul_Tikkanen's help on those elusive drivers. Best of luck to everyone. Hopefully this whole Windows 8 thing blows over and we can start getting support for Windows 7 again.

Yes, thank you very much for the links. You only need the AMD chipset drivers as posted above. Of course, you have to burn them to a CD before you can get on the net!
You will also need the HD7560D drivers from a HP Pavilion p6-2203a located here (sp57889)

FYI, just tried installing Win7 from a set of restore DVD from another HP Win 7 computer. Did not work. It used to though when you downgraded from a Vista to XP.
