I recently purchased an HP SimpleSave 1TB external drive to replace a failing WD drive. The drive appears to be in perfect working order, but the Blue LED fails to light at all, is this an indication of an issue?

I have the same problem. I purchased my unit in Jan. 2010, and have been backing up my two computers every few weeks since I purchased it. No problems until today. I plug in the power cord and USB cable just like I've done a bunch of times already, and the blue LED light doesn't come on. I've tried both computers, each of their USB ports, and different power outlets. Nothing. I just got off the phone with HP Simplesave support and they're sending me a new power cord.
