during the monthly tune-up process which is scheduled from 1:00-2:00 AM, does the computer need to be physically on, or can it be in sleep mode??? The system indicates that it may take several hours and requires that all other programs be shut down. I generally turn my computer off every evening, so should I alter my practices and put it in sleep mode every night?

Do you mean the automatic updates? If so, I'd advise keeping the computer awake and not asleep. If it is only a monthly thing, just change the settings for that day and go back to your regular settings.

Hi Gearheart; thanks for the reply, but as it turns out, the problem resolved itself as something malicious attacked my machine and I was forced to start at square one again, No fun. But, in any event, thanks again for the reply. Vince

Make sure you have protection on your computer then, I know the feeling of starting from the beginning again.
