I have just purchsed a Pavilion p7-1226s PC, and I'm wondering how I connect to my dial-up internet service, and to my very old HP Laser Jet 4V printer?

Hi:
According to the product specs at the link below, your PC does not come with a dial up modem.
You will need to install an internal PCI express x1 modem or a USB external modem.
You will need a new printer. The LJ4 won't work with windows 7.

Thank you, Paul. Not the best of news, but I should be able to work with it. It may be time to ditch my dial-up service and move into the 21st century! As for the printer, what if I keep my existing Windows XP computer and piggyback off of it for any printing? Also, is it possible to connect the two computers?

Hi:
Once you get a cable or DSL modem and a router (wireless if you don't plan on having the 2 PC's in close proximity to each other where they can both be plugged into the router's wired ports), you will be able to network the 2 PC's, and use the LJ 4 on the XP PC.
However you still won't be able to print from that printer from your new PC. There are no drivers for it, as you found out.
Paul
