How do I turn off the alternate BLUE keys on my HP keyboard

I own a HP keyboard and some of the keys show BLUE characters, symbols and numbers....When I attempt to type in a website address using the backslash I always get the alternate BLUE character instead of the backslash....How do I make the keyboard only use the normal characters.

Please ensure you have the right keyboard layout selected. Refer the following weblink for procedure:

Re: How do I turn off the alternate BLUE keys on my HP keyboard

If it's like mine, press hold left ctrl+shift and tap righ shift key, this should toggle between use of the different characters

Note: sometimes I find it doesn't work on first try and have to try a couple of times, sometimes have to press the righ shift key twice!! weird but works

I see many people are having this problem and not even the HP employees know the solution indicating possible problem with keyboard!! I couldn't find the answer to the is problem for my keyboard anywhere except this forum so please mark your question as solved if it works for you too!

Thanks so much! I've been having this problem and changing my keyboard never worked.

Finally can write with considerably less frustration.

Re: How do I turn off the alternate BLUE keys on my HP keyboard

If it's like mine;

press hold left ctrl+shift and tap righ shift key, then press your / key and see if you get it.

If it didn't work then try;  press hold left ctrl+shift and tap righ shift key 2 times, then press your / key and see if you get it.

Works on other keys as well where it toggles to different characters such as the key with the " or @ sign etc..
