1. Increase the memory to the maximum amount of 2 GB.   See the specifications.  Buy a matched pair of 1 GB dimms.

2. Install a discrete video card such as the NVIDIA GT 1GB DDR5.  A power supply upgrade is not required for this card.

3. Replace the processor.  These are the specificaions for the motherboard.  The Intel E4300 is the top model.

Do items #1 and #2 first and see if you are satisified before doing #3.  These "how to" articles should be helpful.

Here is a list of things to try if your PC is slow:

  1. Download cookienator (it's a freebie) and clean house.
  2. Open my Computer and right mouse click on the hard drive --> properties --> Disk cleanup
  3. Start Internet Explorer --> Tools--> Internet Options --> delete browsing history
  4. Open my Computer and right mouse click on the hard drive --> properties --> Tools --> Defrag now
  5. Open the RUN Window and enter the following command: chkdsk
  6. Open my Computer and right mouse click on the hard drive --> properties --> Tools --> Check now
  7. Open the RUN Window and enter the following commands:

          cmd

sfc/scannow --------> this will verify your critical system files and attempt repairs

          exit

Reboot and see how things go.

Re: How to make (HP Pavilion a6130a Desktop PC) Faster.

Thank you for your help with this. I already got 2GB ram and about the video card, will you please explain me how can it make the desktop faster. Sorry I really don't know about video cards.

So the Core 2 Duo (Conroe) up to E4300 processor is the best one to go? And it really does make difference to the desktop?

Because I am using Adobe CS5 products and it is slow when I using them. Thats why I am thinking of upgrading..

You might want to ask Adobe about what a good video card will do for application performance.   The Adobe CS5 products need lots of memory, a good video card and a fast processor. All to often the software manufacturers indicate the minimum configuration but that also means minimum performance.

If you are using the CS5 products for a profession then perhaps you might want to consider a new PC.  Don't throw good money into a PC that might not perform up to your expectations.

If you want a PC recommendation then I would need to know some more about how you are using the Abobe applications and is it for professional use.

Send me a private message is you wish.

Re: How to make (HP Pavilion AAA Desktop PC) Faster.

I am studying website design course so I am using Photoshop and Dreamweaver all the time.

And as I am going to do this in future so I think I really going to need a fast computer.

What kind of pc can you recommend me?

Is building my own computer a good thing or buying already made from retailer?

Re: How to make (HP Pavilion AAA Desktop PC) Faster.

Look over the HP HPE series.  The configure the HPE-460z with a second hard drive (data storage) and the ATI 5770 video card. The HP 2310m monitor is a decent choice but consider the number of hours you are planning on spending in front of the screen and how much screen view (size) is best for the work that you are doing.  Do you need a Blu-ray optical drive?

Do it yourself (DIY) PC building can be fun but you really need you know your needs and understand hardware choices. You might end spending the same or more money but the overall quality is a consideration. However, if something fails then your will have to pursue the warranty and repair issues with different manufacturers.
