Where am I supposed to used this as the unit is way to heavy to cart around. It is a desktop

You would use it in your home if the computer is located where is no provision for a wired network/internet connection. Say you have broadband internet connection with the computer on the other side of the house and there are no CAT5 cables to that location. You can connect an 802.11 router/wireless access point to the broadband modem and the computer can now use the internet.
