Internet issues with new HP Pavilion desktop (Vista)

I had a very similar problem. Internet would work fine sometimes and at other times it would just fizzle out. I had Comcast come in and do a complete noise reduction on my lines. Turned out I had so much noise from my daughters old VCR that it was killing my internet connection in a feed back loop all the way back to the first cable splitter outside in the box. That in turn sent my router into hysterics and fried the #1 port, consequently whenever I was online alone it was fine but soon as someone else booted up on my home network, the internet crashed again. End result, unhooked the VCR, and got a new router, internet is fixed.

Go to the control panel. Right-click to remove the network device. Ignore Windows when it whines that a new device has been found. Reinstall the driver appropriate to your operating system.

I am having the same problem. My hp pavilion worked perfectly fine and all of a sudden the internet connection for it is absolutely horrible. I know it has something to do with the laptop cause I'm on another laptop and every other computer in the house is working perfect for internet. I have two laptops and the hp pavilion cant connect
