M9500y desktop, Win7 64-bit. All latest patches and BIOS level. Added hard drive for mirrored RAID, replaced DVD writer with HP model equivalent to original equipment.
System goes into a coma. The only way to wake it up is to unplug the PC, wait until the power supply is completely drained (green LED goes out), and plug it back in. If the system had been set to hibernate, or to hybrid sleep/hibernate, it will then resume as though it had hibernated.
It does this even with all external devices (USB) disconnected. Only monitor attached.
Hmm... it just occured to me that I have at least two services running that I need to check out: Acronis TI and Norton 360. I would think that if either interfered with sleep/hibernate there would be howls of rage all over the net.
I will see what happens if I disable those.

I used msconfig to set up a diagnostic boot, and that made no difference.
