Evening Gents.
So, I have a HP machine with a Pegatron M2N78-LA violet mother board. My current issue is that the machine won't boot past the HP splash screen. The only way I can get it to boot past the splash screen is if I resent the CMOS using the pins. When it does finally load, I can't input any thing. Things I have tried:
- Resetting the CMOS
- Removing hte CMOS battery for a few moments.
So far nothing has took. I have Googled this and havn't been able to find any conclusive evidence, though it is hinted that a fix is that the BIOS be re-installed/updated. The current version that is bein gran is 5.16. I bought this thing two years ago, and since I encoutered this problem last year, I havn't touched this machine until now.
For added clarity, here is the machine:
HP Pavilion p6130y Desktop PC
However, if a fix can't be found, I'm very willing ot take suggestions for motherboard replacements.
Thanks!

Hi,
i would like to know some information on the issue that you have mentioned.
Did you do any BIOS updates on the machine post which your PC does not boot?

No, I have not done any BIOS updates, but have looked into it for a possible solution. It's still running 5.16, when I bought it in 2010. Most BIOS updating solution I have found require me to boot into the OS.

Hello,
I tried resetting the BIOS as instructed. I did managed to get a Windows loading screen, before the machine bluee-screen and restarted. However, I am now unable to get into the BIOS settings when I press F10. I get a " Enterting settings..." notification at the splash screen and then all of the texts and logos from the flash screen dis appear. The same thing happens when I press escapte to select boot devices.

Hi,
This now seems to be more of a hardware failure.
I would suggest you to take it to a near by HP Authorised Stores and have it checked.
