PC Won't Load

I'm asking this for my friend - she can't get on line right now.  (we have 3 HP computers so it's ok that I'm on here asking for help)

 

When she turns her desktop on, it doesn't load - it beeps - 1 long and 2 short or 2 short and 1 long - can't remember right now.  I don't have model number - just that it's a HP Destop about 3 or 2 years old.  I saw one answer about beeping - to replace the RAM card - but that was for a continious short beep I think.

She is npot computer savy so I will have to go over and do whatever to try and fix it.  So, any help will be greatly appreciated.
