Please help! My taskbar has disappeared!

My taskbar has appeared at the bottom of my desktop until recently.  I have not locked it or moved it, and I have not enabled autohide.  When I click on the screen at the bottom, hoping it would pop up, nothing happens.  So, I have to log out, then log back in, and then it's there.  When I finish my task, and the monitor goes to screen saver, and I log back on, POOF!  It's gone again.  What can I do?

I purchased a new HP earlier this month (02/2012) to replace my old slimline and I'm having the same problem. It started after I set up the "magic canvas". I've noticed when I come back after a few hours away the icons on the taskbar disappear  and the only way I can get them back is to restart the computer. This is very frustrating! Any advice?
