Re: Power-on password for hp compaq dc7900

Hi:

If you removed the password jumper (you had to disconnect everything from the PC including the AC power when you removed the jumper).

If you did all that, and you still have the password, someone enabled stringent security in the BIOS and that bypasses the jumper password clearing method.

You will need a new motherboard in order to use the PC again.

Hi their.

Try this out. Worked for me  before.

Chap:4 Page: 11

Top of the page will explain how to reset your password issue for your model.

Hope this helps.

Let me know

Hi:

As I stated above, if you have correctly followed the instructions (remove A/C power, etc) to clear the password by removing the jumper and you still have a password, stringent security was set and you will need a new motherboard.

See the setup manual, page 6.

Password Options

(This selection appears

only if a power-on

password or setup

password is set.)

Allows you to:

Lock legacy resources (appears if a setup password is set)

Enable/disable network server mode (appears if a power-on password is set)

Specify whether the password is required for warm boot (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) (appears if a poweron

password is set)

Enable/Disable Setup Browse Mode (appears if a setup password is set) (allows viewing, but

not changing, the F10 Setup Options without entering setup password)

Enable/disable Stringent Password (appears if a power-on password is set), which when

enabled bypasses the onboard password jumper to disable the power-on password.
