Aiozo.
The code should be 5,8 or 10 letters long.
You gave 9???
Check code again.

I have a HP 2140 Mini with the Power On Password screen. There is no code after the third attempt. I use the password generators from Dogbert but it doesn't work.
Any hints?

I really appreciate your efforts. That's the same as the Dogbert password. I've tried this with the onboard keyboard and also a usb keyboard.
Any other thoughts? :-)

Do not use the serial# under the laptop
After 3 failed passwords you should get a code CNUxxxxxxx use that code.
At the password screen hit enter 3 times.
Good luck.

power on password right after HP logo needed for nc8230. Entering 3 passwords does not generate any error numbers etc... it requires me power off and then on again. CMOS battery and all power removed does not resolve.

Gary.
Just tested an nc8230.
By removing AC, main battery and CMOS battery I was able to clear Power on Password and Admin passwords.
Please try again and let us know.

I really appreciate your help here. OK, I took the cmos battery out, disconnected power and battery, let it sit for 2 hours, pressed power on switch maybe to discharge any power left in the system. Plugged ac power in (cmos bat not connected) powered up and I still get the power on password with pic for a key, you make three entries and then you get the big asterick symbol, no code, and then you cannot do anything else until you power it off and then when you power back on and your back to the power on password request. I then replaced the TPM module with another one from a system with no power on password requirment. No luck.
Gary
