Problem with HP 520-1030 Touchsmart

I'm wondering if anyone can help with a further problem I'm now experiencing?

 

I've just installed some additional RAM onto the above PC, doubling the capacity from 4gb to 8gb. The sytem is reading it ok. The only thing is, I keep now getting the little time out circular icon (next to the arrow cursor on the screen) as if the PC is still thinking what to do next (if that makes sense!!). It's intermittent but irritating nonetheless. Any solution to this?
