Re: Purchase recovery disc set ?

Hi:

Below is the link to the support and driver page for your PC.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4120...

Click on the link labeled Order recovery Media.

If the order link doesn't work (many times they don't), then you will have to call/chat with HP at the link below.

Re: Purchase recovery disc set ?

So I finally got a new HD (seagate 1Tb). BIOS recognizes it. Installed revovery disc 1. "loading widows" with the bar along the bottom ran for about 10 min then windows boot manager error 0xc00000e9 - "This error can be caused by unplugging removable storage or by faulty hardware such as HD or CD ROM. I ran a SMART status check from BIOS and got "HD failure emminent" (is this a valid test on an unformatted drive ?) I find it hard to believe I have non-functioning new HD. Any thouhts ? Thx

Re: Purchase recovery disc set ?

Hi:

It could be a faulty drive but there is one way to tell for sure.

Download the Windows 7 ISO file for the version of Windows 7 you have on your Microsoft COA sticker, and burn it to a DVD using a DVD burning program that can burn ISO files, so the DVD is bootable.

Burn the compilation at the slowest possible speed you can.

If you want, you can use this installation by activating it with your 25 character product key on the sticker on your PC.

Install any drivers you need from your PC's support page.

If not, at least you can test to see if this installs with no problem. If it installs there is an issue with the recovery disks.  If you get an error installing this plain vanilla version of W7, then you can pretty much bank on the fact that your HDD was DOA since the test failed.

Link to the W7 downloads.  The product key is good for 32 or 64 bit installations.
