Theft by HP

Last night, May 4 I contacted HP Customer Tech Support to help resolve notebook issue, reluctantly since figured the hard drive was gone but I am preparing to leave town for work for 30 days Sunday so I was desperate. I was transferred to someone who explained that it would cost 65.00 to talk to someone. Again, reluctant but agreed, especially reluctant since his accent was difficult to understand. I gave my credit card information and address, twice. After a long period was asked to give it again and put on the phone with a "superior". Again gave credit card information and was told it was not being accepted. By now over an hour has passed and I received NO troubleshooting or attempt to resolve computer issue except for instruction to remove battery. Was told at this time that I would be called back in an hour. No call back and today discover  no less than 8 charges on my bank account. This is nothing but theft, period. I have no idea what this message board is for or who reads it and attempts to contact someone who can help me with this have been fruitless but I will not let this go. Being the weekend I may have to wait but but I intend to pursue any and all options to fight this attempt at stealing my money by a corporation. Disgraceful business practice,

Re: Theft by HP

Sorry, but this is a peer-to-peer HP users forum. HP doesn't maintain an official presence on this forum and is unlikely to respond. Please dispute these charges with your bank and/or credit card company. Indicate that you were charged for services you didn't receive.

Re: Theft by HP

Thanks Frank. When first spotted 8 charges of $65 felt a bit of panic and this sight was the first one I came across to vent. Since then finally did manage to speak to a very helpful rep who explained the mistake and it's very unlikely these charges will remain. Hope he's right. Funny though to see "student" next to my name since I've been a merchant marine captain for over 30 yrs. Maybe a reminder that we're never too old to learn.
