I have upgraded the BIOS on a Compaq Presario S4200NX and now there is this UGLY
splash, I turned the old one off, but how to I turn it off on this new update?
BIOS Version... well, I'll get it if you need it.
I don't want to shut down yet.

Enter into the bios screen at startup and look to see if you have diagnostics enabled or disabled. Disable it and see what happens. Also look for "Full Screen Logo" or "Quick Boot" or "Disable Quiet Boot" if you see any of those enable or disable them.
Your biggest problem is most bios splash screens are coded into the binary of the bios and cannot be altered. Even if you can turn it off, You will just be staring at a blanks screen for the same amount of time.
If you want to speed up boot time youcan disable the XP boot scren by entering into msconfig click the boot tab and select No GUI boot.
