I have a HP Pavillion m9788d desktop PC. I would like to know if I want to add RAM , will my HP warranty be void? I ask this question is because there is a warranty sticker behind my HP computer, and if I open the case the sticker will be broken and will this void the warranty? I have also heard that there are two type of RAM slots. One is for us (as customer) to add RAM and another one is for authorised HP Techniciansto use. For example, there is a warranty seal covering the RAM Slot and only authorise HP Technicians can open and use it so as not to void the warranty. May I know is it true and how about my previous question? Thank you.

Waranty provisions are different with different countries. Do you have an extended warranty that is longer than one (1) year?
These are the motherboard specifications for the m9788d. The blue slots are populated first then the black slots. Review the black and white layout picture.
If you are going to add more memory then use all slots with the same density dimms. Your PC was built with 4 GB but I don't know how the slots were populated with chip density. Download and use PC Wizard to determine memory dimm types and specifications.
I have the same motherboard in my e9280t 9GB. (221x2) is how my dimms slots are populated.

Please download http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and run the program. If you have a printer, print it out.
Is this Vista or Win7? Is it 32 or 64 bit? 32bit can only access 3.25GB of RAM.
1) Have never heard of a warranty sticker sealing an HP.
2) All RAM slots are the same, DDR3, PC8500, 4GB per slot, 6 slots. There have been discussions and conclusions that no one truly exceeds 16GB on a 64bit machine.
