Hello all,
for a few weeks now, I cannot seem to be able use the Hibernate (or standby) option on my Pavillion a1120n. I cannot trace back when it began, but here are the details of my machine:
a1120n, with added 2G of memory (total of 2.5 G)
Fresh install of windows XP Pro (French edition)
Windows SP3 installed, with all the current updates.
Whenever I want to shut down, the Hibernate option is not present. I'm only presented with the Shutdow, Restart or Logoff options. I checked the Power Options in Control Panel, and the Hibernate Tab is not even present. I chatted with a tech support of Hp who of course said it is not recommend to do a clean install, but I needed to in order to have Windows in French (for my wife). The tech was not very helpful.
Any indication of where to start?
Thanks,
Maurice

Hello everyone,
I will answer my own post, as I have finally resolved the issue.
I downloaded and installed the update for the video driver (Intel Graphic Driver Update, sp26670) to make sure my video adapter was working at full capacity. Lo and behold, the Hibernate and Sleep options appeared at the next reboot.
Baggard if I know why, but it works now.
Thanks to everyone who read and scratched their head on this one.
Regards,
Maurice
