disk driver not responding

On my HP desktop im trying to view a picture cd, when I put it into the driver nothing happens. How do I view whats on the cd?

Open "my computer" or just "computer", depending on the version of Windows installed,  and double click on the CD\DVD drive.  That should cause some kind of response.
