My computer has twice changed the colors of whatever program i am in when i turn the computer on it shows color distortions.  it is bright and grainy the dark colors are not dark blue but sky blue and extremely grainy and very distorted.  Can I fix this without taking this to a repair shop?  And/or, If I use system recover, will I lose all that is on my computer? eg. my bookmarks, my folders and their contents, and my downloads. Please I hope you can help me.

maybe changing the display settings may solve the problem....if the color distortion is fixed on a certain area on the screen it may be the monitor's lcd thats affected
