how to remove power supply from dc5000 sff

How do I remove to replace the long thin power supply from my dc5000 small form factor desktop pc?  I can't find any step by step directions on the HP site.   Thanks.

Re: how to remove power supply from dc5000 sff

Power supplies can be very dangerous. Whatever you do do not open the actual power supply, it can kill you. NOw there should be some schematics under your personal HP web page. If not download the owners manual and it should show you in there. Also being it is a "form factor" system you will only be able to replace it with one from HP themselves. My suggestion is this. Go to a local computer shop and buy a new case with a power supply already in it then transfer everything over to the new case.

Re: how to remove power supply from dc5000 sff

I've already ordered the OEM replacement part, but can't find any resource on HP site on how to actually remove the old power supply....it's really stuck in there is  some unusual way, and I'm pretty good at PC hardware issues....so your help, though much appreciated, didn't answer my real question....but thanks anyway.   Nothing is found on HP web site or in manual about this particular piece of hardware in the dc5000.

Yes, it was there the other day...  It just moved a little bit or something..  Trying this again, well, just because.

I ganked that service reference guide from Manuals (guides, supplements, addendums, etc) for the dc5000.

Daniel,

It more beneficial to know the product. Replacement 'form factor"  power supplies are available from many sources, it is "not" an HP specific product. (HP outsources the components. HP only assembles it). I fail to see your "logic".

Here is a reference for the PSU:http://www.skyline-eng.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6401

Here is a "new" exact replacement for only $45:   http://www.chariotdesign.com/hpp39cop3018.html
