Have a newish (August 2011) HPE-570t with Win7 Home upgraded to Win7 Ultimate and want to run Windows XP Virtual PC in Win 7 Ultimate and the download from MS tells me it is not set up to run this? Something about changing BIOS?

Please clarify: do you want XP mode OR using virtual PC (machine). For running XP mode you can start from this:
For virtual machine, you need more than that.

It looks like you have hardware virtualization technology on your system, but it is not turned on. This can usually be enabled in the BIOS. When the computer first starts to boot, you can get into the bios with the F10 key. Look under the 'Power' options for the virtualization setting. Change it to 'Enabled' and you will have no further problems with Windows XP mode.

If you don't have the setting in BIOS ,you can also apply the hotfix here:
