so a couple of days ago i encountered a virus on my computer... which always sucks
so i decided after exploring other options to do a complete system restore... lost everything i had but i was pretty sure i was going to at least get my computer acting normal. everything worked out great until the computer went to hibernate mode.... it simply would not turn back on... so i shut it down and tried to turn it on again.... the computer itself appears turned on... but it appears to not be able to recognize anything plugged in to it. keyboard, monitor etc. it just does not work.. i tried to open the disk drive to insert a recovery disk and it wont even open.. i dont exactly have alot of money.. but i do need a computer for my school work, taxes, and other random items... does anyone have any idea whats wrong with my computer and if so how to fix it... if anyone could help me out it would mean soo much to me

It would help greatly if you would post what your PC model is and which Operating system you have installed.
As soon as you do this we will be able to provide more than just generic help (i.e. the following question).
The following are very important questions.
Is the CPU fan running when you turn it on? On startup does the power on LED and the HDD acivity LED flash and the DVD drive LED flash?
These are very important questions.

Ok... Here is a link to your motherboard information. Follow the instructions on clearing CMOS and in addition to the instructions, remove the CMOS battery after you move the jumper and press the case power button and hold for a few seconds.
Once you have that done replace the jumper to default position.
Reinstall the CMOS battery and plug the power cable back in.
Now try a restart of your system. Hopefully you will now have video again.
If video has returned --> tap the F10 key during startup to access the BIOS.
Set BIOS to default settings.
Now perform the recovery process again and follow the instruction to the letter,
When you start up your system again in Windows do not let Windows update itself.
Go to the support webpage for your PC. Look for updates and hotfixes in the download section applicable to Win XP and install them.
Please post your results

Am unable to install any programs. Programs show up on security as installed and dated, but when I try to use a program I get a message saying the PC is unable to locate program or there was an error when installing the program. I used Microsoft Driver scan, the recovery manager, and command prompt to scan my drivers. They all found drivers that needed to be fixed. Recovery Manager tried to fix the drivers by uninstalling and reinstalling programs. Those that were uninstalled are no longer usable. Even my security firewall, etc is not working.
