I recently moved my Desktop, and Vinyl Cutter / Plotter to another room. Now, for some reason, my Vinyl cutting software won't recognise any USB Com Ports, and therefore, will not cut.  (I have tried configuring it for each port with no luck). When I open Devices and Printers and look at USB/ Serial Properties of the Cutter, it shows that its on Com9... and I only have 6 USB ports that I know of.  First question.. where do I look to identify which USB ports are which #s.  4 in back of pc, and 2 up front.

Com refers to the COM port, and is a 'serial port".  Change it to the USB port.

PS<> moving hardware does not cause this problem.   Someone changed the settings.

Thanks for the fast reply.. I  reinstalled the Plotter drivers (for the 3rd time), and this time they installed (automatically) to com 6.  Formerly, it was going to com 9 or com 10, neither of which is in the dropdown list in the software. (only went up to 6)  The software (Flexi Sign Pro) requires that the Production Mgr. profile matches this location, so it can communicate with the Cutter/Plotter.  Anyway.. it's up and running again!  Thanks again.. if you hadn't replied, I probably wouldn't have tried the 3rd install, and I'd still be here scratching my head, (and cussing alot)
